Quantifying the Co-benefits from Solar Energy in Japan between 2020 and 2030

Replacing energy from fossil fuels with solar can deliver significant co-benefits such as the reduction in GHGs and improvement in air quality. This case study describes how to quantify these benefits in Japan. The results demonstrate the transition to solar energy can deliver reductions of approximately 200,000 tons of CO2 per year by 2030 and modest reduction in SOx, NOx and PM2.5 by the same year
