In 2015, Nepal was struck by a major earthquake and numerous aftershocks. Along with damaged infrastructure and loss of lives, brick kilns in the country also suffered heavy damage. As Nepal began to rebuild, the demand for construction material increased sharply. This case shows how the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) partnered with the Federation of Nepalese Brick Industry and MinErgy to meet this increased demand with brick kilns that reduced air pollution and mitigated climate change.
